The world’s largest electric plane takes flight

On August 12, 2026 (yesterday) Heart Aerospace’s X1 electric plane prototype took flight. This marked an incredible advancement in aviation. The X1 prototype is now the biggest battery powered electric plane to take flight.

Quick facts:
• This flight lasted 27 minutes
• The plane had a take off weight of over 25 000 pounds (11339.81 kilos)
• The flight used up 5 USD worth of fuel!
• The wingspan of the plane is 106 ft
• The all electric range of the X1 is 200 km and can charge in about 30 minutes
Additional information

Personally I am just excited to see development in civil aviation technology and hope that one day the idea can be expanded to planes with longer range. (Hopefully by the time that is possible most of our electric energy production will be from renewable sources.)
